Today, my X/Twitter account got permanently banned. "Banned Forever" in Club Penguin terms (those who know, know what I mean).
This made me remember something I believed for at least last couple of years; if you don't own your platform, you don't have a say.
This goes further into rented hosting capacity aswell, but that is easier to solve since the codebase, database etc. can be downloaded easily.
The main problem here is not hosting providers, or rented servers in a datacenter, but rather the absurd acceptance of social media platforms and 3rd party proprietary operating systems.
For example, you use Windows 11, you keep your data within Google Drive, you use Twitter and YouTube and Instagram as your main source of income (let's say you are selling stuff), you manage your workflows via ChatGPT Pro and you use Grok to remind you of events and track your emails.
All of these platforms I just mentioned, can, without any consequences, completely wipe out your data, user, history, and therefore, your future.
And yet, you still trust them.
Right there, there is the problem.
Early 2000s had personal websites, then we had Facebook pages, and now Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.
Everyday we lose more freedom and our "say" in the digital world.
This is extremely toxic and dangerous.
It is now easier than ever to enslave masses.
